Side-Eye & Sympathy | Through a Velvet Lens

The House Rules:
Spill Your Story
Before you pull up a chair and pour your heart out, here is how we keep the conversation high-quality and the coffee hot.
1. Keep it Anonymous (Mostly)
I want the truth, not your Social Security number. Use a pseudonym for yourself and anyone else in your story. If you forget, don't worry—I’ll "blur the lens" and change the names myself before anything goes live. Your identity stays at the booth.
2. The "Filter" is Mandatory
I’m looking for the messy, the complicated, and the "am I the only one?" moments. When you write, give me the context. I need to know the feeling behind the facts. Instead of just "we broke up," tell me "it felt like a slow-motion crash."
3. Be Detailed, Not Dense
Try to keep your submission under 500 words. If it’s a novel, the side-eye gets a little blurry. Give me the highlights: the conflict, the players, and the specific question you need me to answer.
4. The Velvet Consent
By hitting "Submit," you’re giving me permission to feature your story on the blog, in The Daily Brew, or on social media. I reserve the right to edit for length, clarity, and dramatic flair—but the heart of your story will always remain yours.
5. Not Every Brew is Served
While I wish I could sit with every dilemma, I choose the cases that speak to the universal "human" moments my readers are facing. If you don't see yours right away, keep an eye on the Case Files—you never know when your situation might spark a "Daily Brew."
The Submission Form Fields (Suggested)
If you are building a form on your site, use these field titles to stay on brand:
-
Your Pseudonym: (e.g., "The Hopeless Romantic" or "Searching in Seattle")
-
The Spill: (The main text box for their story)
-
The Question: (What is the one thing you need Abby's lens on?)
-
Your Mood: (A dropdown: "Desperate for Sympathy," "Ready for the Side-Eye," or "A Little of Both")
