The Briefing Room
Submission Protocol
Before you lay out the files, understand that we aren’t just sipping coffee anymore—we’re searching for the truth. Here is how we handle the heavy lifting:
1. The Witness Protection (Anonymity)
Whether you are a family member seeking a spotlight or a "silent observer" with a tip, your safety is the priority. If you wish to remain anonymous, state it clearly. I will "blur the lens" on your identity, but the facts of the case must remain sharp.
2. Just the Cold Hard Facts (The Baseline)
For these submissions, I need more than the feeling—I need the foundation. Give me dates, locations, and law enforcement agencies involved. If you have a theory, label it. If you have a fact, cite it. We start with the "Side-Eye" on the evidence before we move to the "Sympathy" of the story.
3. The "Missing Piece" Priority
I choose cases where the "why" hasn't been answered or where the "who" has been forgotten. If you are submitting a case for coverage, tell me why it’s gone cold and what specific "tough question" you believe needs to be asked to break the silence.
4. The Chain of Custody (Consent)
By submitting a case or a tip, you are giving Side-Eye & Sympathy permission to investigate, narrate, and share this story across our platforms. I reserve the right to edit for clarity and impact, but the mission remains the same: bringing the "who knows" into the "now we know."
5. Legal Boundaries
I am a writer and an advocate, not a badge. If you are submitting a tip regarding an active crime or immediate danger, please contact local authorities or a tip line first. My booth is for the long-haul search, not the emergency call.
The Investigative Submission Form
Keep your form fields consistent with the "Corner Booth" aesthetic but with an investigative edge:
-
The Liaison: (Your name or pseudonym—state if you wish to remain anonymous to the public.)
-
The Subject: (Who is the missing or unidentified person? Include their name and the location of the event.)
-
The Evidence Bag (The Spill): (Laying out the facts. What happened? What are the cold hard details?)
-
The Missing Piece: (What is the one question that hasn't been answered? What do the "official" reports get wrong?)
-
Your Relation: (Are you a family member, a friend, or a concerned observer?)
-
The Intent: (A dropdown: "Seeking a Spotlight for a Case," "Submitting a Silent Tip," or "Requesting a Deep-Dive Investigation.")
